Welcome to my family history blog. Finding more about my family's history is very rewarding as well as being interesting and educational.
I created this blog to share my thoughts, experiences, tips and resources in my search for my ancestors' history and maybe, help you in your research as well. I am particularly interested in the history of Upper Canada and the Loyalist period in history.

Follow Friday - Madeline's Essex County - A History of Canada's Deep South

I must admit, I may be a bit biased in recommending this genealogy blog since I have lived all my life in Essex County, but this blog is unique in that the author, Madeline Wallace, is no longer with us, and her granddaughter, Victoria Fenner, has created a blog for her grandmother's memoirs and research to be shared with the world.

Madeline's Essex County is worth checking out, the stories are interesting to read even if you're not from Essex County. Thank you Victoria for sharing with us.

  1. Thanks for your kind words, Earline. I just decided a few months ago that Grandma's extensive research needs to reach further than the dusty boxes in the attic .. it's a labour of love, and everything I write connects me with Home and with my grandmother. Your blog helps me do that too .. I left Essex County a lot of years ago, and it's good to be back through story and memory.

  2. I'm sorry, I had the wrong generation, I corrected the error. My great-grandparents lived in South Woodslee for a time, most of my grandfather's siblings married into your families, Dewhurst, Wilcox, Ebbinghaus, Hillier, Jarriet. Thanks again for sharing.
